Arie Paul van den Beukel

Dr. ir. Arie Paul van den Beukel has been a professor of Industrial Design at Saxion since September 15, 2021. He is an Industrial Design Engineer and studied at Delft University of Technology. Alongside a post-master’s in Technology Design, he began his career as a UX designer, focusing on vehicle control design in the automotive industry.

In 2007, Arie Paul started as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Twente for the Industrial Design program and later for the Creative Technology program. He taught Human-Centered Design courses, supervised projects and graduates, and coordinated the final projects for Industrial Design.

Experience in the automotive industry and human-centered design converge in Arie Paul’s PhD research. He earned his PhD from the University of Twente with a dissertation on Driving Automation Interface Design – Supporting Driver’s Changing Role.
