Dr. Daan Andriessen has been Professor of Research Capability at the HU University of Applied Sciences since 2013. This university-wide professorship focuses on the professionalization of practice-oriented research within higher professional education (HBO) and the development of research capabilities in education.
Daan Andriessen has a background in social science and methodology, having been trained at the Vrije Universiteit. He earned his PhD from Nyenrode Business Universiteit in 2003. From 2003 to 2013, he served as the lector of Intellectual Capital at Hogeschool Inholland. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and provides training and workshops to educators on research methods.
His philosophy emphasizes that “Good practice-oriented research leads to substantial changes, is educational, and produces new products.”
Daan Andriessen has been involved with various organizations such as the Forum for Practice-Oriented Research, a platform for lecturers in the Netherlands, and the Association of Lecturers. Under his leadership, a Code of Conduct for Practice-Oriented Research in hbo was developed in 2010, and he contributed to the Dutch Code of Conduct for Scientific Integrity in 2017.
His expertise lies in the methodology of practice-oriented research.
