From 2004 until 2022, Karin has been a part-time lector in Product Design at the Industrial Design lectorate of Saxion. She is a specialist in product development and new business creation, focusing on both consumer and technical products.
She has held various positions throughout her career, including designer and project leader at the design agency Well Design, head of Innovation at Brink Luchtverwarming, project team manager at Wavin Marketing and Technology, manager of New Business Development at Pentas Moulding, and head of product development at Wisa.
Since 1999, she has run her consultancy, Kompane, specializing in market and product development. Karin is also a jury member for the Consumer Products category within the Dutch Design Awards.
In 2014, Karin van Beurden won the RAAK-SIA Award with the project “Materialen in Ontwerp2”. According to the jury report, she successfully engaged companies through a stable and thorough approach, addressing current knowledge issues effectively.
Additionally, Karin van Beurden was instrumental in the establishment of the Network Applied Design Research (NADR).
