Marieke Zielhuis

Dr. ir. Marieke Zielhuis studied Industrial Design and completed her PhD on the integration of design research with the creative industries. Her research primarily focuses on the learning processes occurring at the interface between research and professional practice, as well as the methodologies required for effective collaboration in these areas.

Since 2002, Marieke has been working at Hogeschool Utrecht (HU). She has held various roles at HU that bridge education, research, and practice. These roles include positions at the Centre for Nature & Technology, Centre of Expertise Creative Industries UCREATE, Centre of Expertise Smart Sustainable Cities, and as project leader at the Centre for Learning and Innovation, managing research projects in collaboration with industry partners. Since 2018, she has been a researcher at the lectorate Research Capability.

Marieke is actively involved in multiple research projects and contributes as a member of the Expertise Team on Research for the Teaching and Learning Network. Additionally, within the Network of Applied Design Research, she contributes to enhancing methodologies in practice-oriented design research.
