Tessa Cramer (PhD) is a professor of Designing the Future and a future-oriented academic. In her work, Cramer immerses you in the mindset of a futurist.
Tessa Cramer provides her audience with targeted tools and instruments to engage with the future themselves. She does not paint intangible future visions but emphasizes the collective wisdom of the participants, aiming to broaden the thinking about what is technologically and socially possible.
Tessa Cramer defended her dissertation, Becoming Futurists, at Maastricht University on May 15, 2020, thereby putting a professional group on the map.
Tessa has had a fascination with the future from an early age. “I quickly realized that my fascination was not widely shared. I noticed that thinking about the future was hardly part of curricula (both in high school and at university). It is surprising that, in contrast to looking back (history), we hardly learn to look forward.” In April 2020, Cramer started as a professor of Designing the Future at Fontys Academy for Creative Industries in Tilburg. “I want to help as many people as possible become literate about the future.”
